Gerbil Goods: Things Your Pet Needs

Like all rodents, gerbils need to wear down their constantly growing teeth. To satisfy this need, give your gerbils small blocks of untreated wood and nontoxic branches to chew.

Gerbils are very active and like to play. Exercise wheels give them chance to run off their energy, but be sure to use a solid wheel; their long tails may catch between the bars of wire wheels. Gerbils also enjoy hopping up ledges, climbing ladders and steps, and hiding in mugs, clay pots or cardboard tubes. You can find a variety of toys for small animals at your local pet store.
