The Squirrel Bond

How do these squirrels become bonded to the point that they make such incredible pets? The trick is to obtain them when they are young (preferable less then 10 weeks old) and carry them with you in your shirt pocket several hours a day for three to four weeks. Your heartbeat, body warmth and body odor cause the unique process to take place.

Once the bond has been accomplished, a squirrel will interact with you in the most entertaining ways. It will frolic about your body, in and out of shirts and shirt pockets, peering out inquisitively, then darting back to the warmth and darkness of your shirt or blouse. Putting a pecan between your teeth may result in the squirrel tugging on the nut until it successfully pulls it loose, then finding a comfortable spot on your shoulder and devouring the nut with great satisfaction. The most amazing interaction of all is the squirrel's willingness to fly from one person to another, or to fly from a high perch to your hand or shoulder.
