Duprasi
The Duprasi Home
The diurnal duprasi remain active day and night. In the wild, these social animals sometimes live in colonies. Their home consists of an underground tunnel, extending 6 to 8 feet, with chambers for nesting and storing food. A 10-gallon aquarium or similar-size cage with pine shavings about 1 inch deep simulates that environment. Nonclumping cat litter can be used, too, to replicate their natural sandy habitat. They like to crawl through pieces of 2-inch PVC pipe, an imitation of the tunnels in their natural environment. When given two 8- to 12-inch pieces they frequently bury them in the pine shavings or cat litter to form "underground" tunnels.
These active little animals like to scurry about. Provide each cage with an exercise wheel, and sometimes you'll see them fight to see who gets in first.
