Why Dormice Make Great Pets
Domestically raised dormice possess a charm uniquely their own. This trait shines in the spotlight when you turn off your lights. Many dormice owners mount a red bulb over their pets' tank to view the three-ring circus that goes on when the lights go down. It's easy to lose track of time watching the crazy antics that go on among these silly little animals. There isn't much that is more entertaining than a tank full of dormice and their toys.
Imagine the lights turned down. The red bulb shines on the tank with your family seated on the couch, laughing as everyone watches one dormouse climb a rope, another one do flips on the ground, another go around in a circle on the lid and the last run up the toy slide and repeatedly leap off. Throw in some crickets, and the fun really begins. Don't be fooled into thinking they don't know you're there. Sudden bursts of laughter cause them to stop in their tracks, then run up to the tank wall looking at you as if to say, "What's so funny"?
Dormice are hardy little creatures that can live 5, even 6, years when taken care of properly. Take care of your dormice and, in return, they will give you hours of love and joy.
