Captivating Cavies

It's not from Guinea, and it's not a pig. So why do people call this rodent a "guinea pig?" No one knows for sure. Some speculate that the name originated from the fact that the animal's squeal sounds like a pig, while another story explains that the animals once were sold in the British colonies for the price of a guinea (a British coin).
