Pelleted and Seed Diets

Formulated diets will provide balanced nutrition in one package.

In the last 10 years, formulated diets, either pelleted or seed based, have come a long way. Regulations on producing these feeds had been extremely lax in the past. In Europe and Canada, utilizing pelleted feeds is very common practice; some of the major veterinarians state that the incidence of nutritional deficiencies is now at a minimum.

The idea of a pelleted, balanced diet has been commonplace in many animals for many years, being accepted as a total diet without problems. Pellets are an excellent way to offer a balanced diet.

Changing a bird's diet is also an important consideration. The adaptation should be gradual rather than a sudden change. Finally, in each pelleted formula, there should be a nutritional analysis. Study it closely, and compare it to others available.

The seed mixes that we use here have also been improved, the variety being quite impressive, no longer 90-percent sunflower.
